Transfer of Credit and Degree Recognition
One of the more controversial topics in higher education today is the issue of transfer of credit. Given the difficulties that many students experience when transferring academic credits from one institution to another, ACICS decided to take an active role in establishing a more transparent system that makes the process more navigable for everyone involved. One of our major contributions is the creation of the ACICS Transfer Alliance.
ACICS TRANSFER ALLIANCE
ACICS’ frequent communication with our member institutions puts us in a strong position to facilitate the transfer process for both the institutional personnel and the students who wish to transfer credits. We have leveraged this position and established a consortium of institutions that are dedicated to working with one another in order to find a solution to the transfer of credit problem. This consortium is called the ACICS Transfer Alliance.
- 154 institutions participate in the Transfer Alliance.
- Participating institutions are located in 28 states, and Puerto Rico
- The Transfer Alliance was created in 2003
Through these actions, ACICS believes that students and institutions that participate in the ACICS Transfer Alliance are in a much better position to transfer academic credit than they were prior to the Alliances’ inception.
