Career Services Speakers


 

Margot Doucette
Margot Doucette, J.D., is the Director at Design Institute of San Diego.  Design Institute of San Diego is a private independent college, founded in 1977, and devoted to a single purpose:  professional education in interior design.
Margot has had over 18 years of experience in Private Postsecondary Education where she enjoys combining her legal education as the Director and Chief Onsite Officer at Design Institute.  She also oversees the implementation and oversight of accreditation criteria and compliance, as well as Federal and State Legislative Requirements.
Margot earned a B.A. in Political Science from California State University Northridge in 1994 and a J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 1993.  She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1994.

 

Jackie Gloria
Jackie Gloria began her financial aid career in 1981.  She has worked at a variety of private post-secondary institutions spending the last 17 years as the Financial Aid Director at Design Institute of San Diego.  She believes it is important to develop a personal relationship with her students so she can give them the best financial advice possible.   
In addition to working at Design Institute, Jackie has provided consulting services for private college in the San Diego area.  She has been a member of NASFAA for more than 20 years and served on the advisory committee for California Student Aid Commission.

 

Denise Homme
Dr. Homme’s professional focus is high end residential interior design but, over the years, her projects have been varied and include a number of private and corporate offices, medical and counseling facilities.  A fierce proponent of quality interior design education, academics has also been an area of personal commitment– complementing her professional practice for over 40 years.  Over the past four decades, she has been affiliated with various colleges and universities in the Midwest and, more recently, in southern California; where Dr. Homme is the Interior Design Program Director at Design Institute of San Diego –a CIDA accredited private four year college offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design.  
In addition to an undergraduate degree in design, Dr. Homme holds both an MA and a Ph.D. degree in Interior Design.

 

David Hyslop
Dr. David Hyslop currently serves as a Professor of Business Education in the School of Teaching and Learning at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH.  He has served at BGSU as a faculty member and administrator for over 25 years, with previous teaching experience at several other universities.
He has earned a bachelor degree in business administration, an MBA in Human Resource Management, and a Ph.D. in Business Education from Michigan State University. 
Dr. Hyslop has served ACICS and other accrediting agencies in a number of capacities.  For ACICS, he has significant experience as an evaluator, workshop presenter, and member of the board of directors, including serving as chair in 2005.

 

Kimberley Jones
Dr. Kimberley M. Jones earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music from Alma College, Michigan. Her Master of Music degree is from the College of Fine Arts at The Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Dr. Jones has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Comparative Arts (Interdisciplinary Arts) from the College of Fine Arts at The Ohio University with majors in Art History and Theatre History with a minor in Aesthetics.
She has worked in the institution of higher learning for over twenty-five years serving as faculty and/or administrator. In addition to teaching and re-designing a variety of General Education courses, Dr. Jones is currently the Program Chair for General Education at Westwood College - Annandale Campus, Virginia.

 Dr. Burton S. Kaliski

Dr. Burton Kaliski
Dr. Burton Kaliski is a former Professor of Business Education, at the Southern New Hampshire University School of Business. Before joining the SNHU faculty, he served as dean of the New Hampshire College Undergraduate School of Business. He is an active member of the New Hampshire Business Education Association and has served on various associations such as the National Association for Business Teacher Education and the National Business Education Association.

 

Anne Kellett
Anne Kellett, ASID, CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) is an independent Interior Designer with over 35 years  of experience in the field of residential interior design. Her design firm, A Kinder Space, creates safe, beautiful, accessible and welcoming spaces that strive to address the present and future needs of her clients.  Anne’s prime goal is to interpret those needs and desires in an aesthetically pleasing way...to make spaces work “for” them ….not “against” them…to create an environment in which they can live and work more positively and independently. 
Anne earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Textiles and Interior Design from the University of Connecticut in 1969 and her Master’s from Oregon State University in 1971.
Anne is a Professional member of the San Diego Chapter of ASID, where she serves as Director of Membership as well as Faculty Advisor for the Student Chapter at Design Institute of San Diego. 

 

Elaine Neely
Elaine M. Neely is Chief Regulatory Excellence Officer for Medtech, a leading post­secondary healthcare education training provider, where she is responsible for all regulatory compliance-including federal, state and accrediting rules and standards-across Medtech's growing network of campuses nationwide.
Neely's career in higher education spans nearly 40 years. As Kaplan's Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, she oversaw and interpreted federal regulations and assisted in implementing and ensming system-wide compliance. For 20 years, Neely served in a variety of senior-level positions at Kaplan Higher Education, helping grow the company from six campuses to more than 70, in addition to an online university. In 2010, she received the Kaplan Higher Education Crystal Award of Excellence for exceptional service in support of the campuses.

 

Kirah Rahill

Kirah Rahill has nearly a decade of experience in career services for career colleges. As National Director of Career Services for Medtech, she directs and oversees the placement and externship strategies for 11 campuses across five states and the District of Columbia.
Prior to joining Medtech, Rahill served as Assistant National Director of Career Services and Regional Field Relations Specialist for MedVance Institute, where she managed placement and extemship activities for 1 0 campuses, in addition to playing a key role in developing policies and procedures for career services.

 

Ruth Shafer

Dr. Shafer currently serves as an ACICS Commissioner and is a professor in the Education and Administration master’s program at Lindenwood University, St. Louis.  One of the courses she teaches is Professional Learning Communities – a highly researched school reform strategy for improving data through collaboration.  As Education Consultant she recently worked with an “under-performing” school district training faculty and administrators in the PLC process to improve student achievement scores. 

In addition she has just completed two years of consulting with the Vice Chancellor of the St. Louis Community College system, implementing a Tech Prep Articulation Program with 29 school districts in the areas of Network Administration, Engineering, Culinary Arts, Medical Technology and Information Technology.  Previously, as district administrator for a large suburban district, she engaged in teacher training, curriculum and program development and implementation, and grant development and implementation. 

 

Beth Taylor
Beth Taylor is a Board Certified Professional Coach (BCC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and is currently the Campus Director of Career Services at International Academy of Design & Technology in Nashville, TN.  She has been involved with helping people reach their potential through coaching and counseling for nearly 20 years.

Beth holds a B.S. in Communication from Kennesaw State University, and an M.A. in Education from the University of Texas – San Antonio.  She received her International Certification for Executive Coaching at UT-Dallas in the Executive Management Program in 2012.  She is a member of Tennessee Coaches Alliance, National Association of Women Business Owners, and a member of the Middle Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management.   

 

Robert Trewartha
Mr. Trewartha is currently the owner of Political Consulting and a public relations specialist. He has a master's degree in management.

 

Julie Warden

Julie Warden is a Cum Laude Public Relations graduate from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. She started her work in for-profit education in 2008 in the Career Services Department at West Virginia Junior College in Charleston, WV and was promoted to the corporate office in October of 2011 as the Regional Director of Career Management covering five campuses. She has been instrumental in merging a simple Career Services division at the campus level to an entire Career Management Department which focuses not only on job seeking and preparation, but managing a work / life balance, a professional image in the community and online and maintaining a successful level of professional growth post-graduation.
