Update for Puerto Rico Institutions and Campuses

September 28, 2017

After the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma on the island of Puerto Rico, ACICS would like to extend our most sincere thoughts and support to all those impacted by this event. To date, we have been unable to establish contact with any of our nearly 40 accredited institutions on the island.  In an effort to offer flexibility and cooperation with the affected institutions and campuses, and until such time as we are able to understand the status of students, records, and equipment on the ground in Puerto Rico, ACICS makes the following announcements with respect only to institutions located in Puerto Rico effective today:

  • ACICS is postponing monthly Placement Verification Program (PVP) submissions originally due on October 31, 2017, November 30, 2017, and December 31, 2017. Those submissions are now due on January 5, 2018.
  • ACICS is deferring the submission of the Campus Accountability Report (CAR) from the established due date of November 1, 2017 to January 5, 2018.
  • ACICS is extending previously assigned due dates for documentation from any self-study submissions, monitoring actions, reporting actions, compliance warning actions, or show cause actions to January 5, 2018.
  • ACICS is postponing any on-site evaluation visits scheduled to take place in the Winter 2018 travel cycle to Spring 2018.

ACICS will continue to monitor the status of our institutions in Puerto Rico and will provide relevant updates and changes to the timelines for accrediting activities as deemed appropriate.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact ACICS by email at info@acics.org or by phone at (202) 336-6780.

If you represent one of our member institutions in Puerto Rico, please contact us at your earliest convenience to provide a status. ACICS stands ready to assist with whatever recovery efforts we can offer you, your staff, and your students.
