Below are excerpts from the letter from the U.S. Department of Education, dated July 8, 2011, regarding ACICS’ status as a reliable authority on institutional quality and integrity:
“I continue the Department's recognition of ACICS as a nationally recognized accrediting agency with the clarified scope of recognition as detailed below, for the time necessary to permit ACICS 12 months from the date of this letter to achieve compliance, and to submit a compliance report within 30 days thereafter documenting compliance, and to permit the Department to review and make a final recognition decision in light of the compliance report...”
“Scope of recognition: The accreditation of private postsecondary institutions throughout the United States offering certificates or diplomas, and postsecondary institutions offering associate, bachelor's, or master's degrees in programs designed to educate students for professional, technical, or occupational careers, including those that offer those programs via distance education.”
“Please convey my appreciation to the members of ACICS for their continuing efforts to improve the quality of postsecondary education in the United States. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
