I am pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Edward Thomas and Dr. Ruth Shafer as commissioners on the ACICS Council. Dr. Thomas is professor of marketing, emeritus at Cleveland State University and brings with him more than 29 years’ experience as a peer evaluator. Dr. Shafer is an adjunct professor in the graduate education program at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri and is an experienced peer evaluator and team chair. Brief biographical sketches are provided below. We welcome Commissioners Thomas and Shafer to the Council.
Albert C. Gray, PhD
Dr. Thomas has served as a member of the marketing faculty at Cleveland State University since 1973, teaching in the fields of business, society and government; written communications; oral communications; and business environment and ethical analysis and law. He has also served as associate dean in various capacities since 1977. Dr. Thomas earned his undergraduate and master’s degree at Western Kentucky University, and completed his Ed.D. at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Shafer has served in a faculty a capacity at Lindenwood University since 1993 and as a student teacher supervisor for Northwest Missouri State University since 2008. She has prior faculty and consulting affiliations with St. Louis Community College and Southeast Missouri State University. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in business education de at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a Ph.D. in educational administration at St. Louis University.
