Department of Education Further Extends Deadline

Department of Education Further Extends Deadline to Respond to ACICS Petition for Continued Recognition

On August 28, 2018 the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) received notification from the Department of Education that it seeks additional time to respond to ACICS's petition for continued recognition, citing “the voluminous nature of the records under review” in asking for the second extension.  The Department now has until September 28, 2018 to respond. The original deadline of July 30 was first extended to September 4, 2018.

ACICS continues to support the Department's efforts to take the time necessary to make a reasoned decision regarding ACICS's continued compliance with federal agency recognition criteria. In accordance with the April 3, 2018 order from the Secretary, ACICS continues to operate as a federally recognized agency.
