Adding Value Workshops

 

Adding Value: Retention and Placement Workshop

This one-day workshop focuses on accomplishing the institutional goals prescribed in the Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IEP) and ways to enhance outcomes. Outcomes are tangible measures of how well an institution has achieved its goals. Two outcomes will be reviewed at this workshop – retention and placement.

Adding Value: Teaching and Learning Workshop

The “Adding Value: Teaching and Learning Workshop' is the core business of career colleges. This workshop examines practices that are foundational for success and continuous quality improvement both in the classroom and throughout the organization. Some of the topics addressed in this workshop include models for professional development plans, creating dynamic programs through student learning assessment and evaluation, and academic advising as a tool to motivate students and improve retention. Faculty, academic administrators, and others who have an interest or role in academic affairs should consider attending this workshop.

Adding Value: IEP Workshop

This one-day workshop introduces participants to a model planning process for institutional effectiveness, a process that links everyday activities of the institution with its mission and guiding purpose. Topics covered include environmental scanning, SWOT analysis, documentation needed for the Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IEP) and how to effectively evaluate the IEP.

Distance Education Workshop

Dates and Locations To Be Determined

The Distance Education Workshop will provide an overview of the ACICS distance education process including a review of the Non-Traditional Education Accreditation Criteria—Appendix H narrative preparation, application form, evaluation visit policies and procedures, as well as distance education maintenance requirements.  This workshop is designed for all institutions seeking to engage in distance education or those institutions already offering distance education courses or programs.  The workshop is recommended for key staff members with overall responsibility for on-line educational activities at their campus.

AFR and AIR - Report Cards That Count!

Dates and Locations To Be Determined

This workshop will provide an overview of Council expectations for financial reporting, standards of satisfactory progress, and the annual institutional report. Participants will become familiar with the Council’s current reporting requirements. Participants will learn the roles that the Financial Review Committee and Institutional Effectiveness Committee play in monitoring accredited nstitutions for financial stability and institutional effectiveness. The presentation will also include the elements required to comply with the Accreditation Criteria as well as the most common areas of noncompliance. Participants will engage in an open discussion describing best practices and solutions to areas of noncompliance.

Program Workshop

Dates and Locations To Be Determined

This one day interactive workshop is essential for individuals responsible for the preparation and submission of new program/distance education applications and program revision notification forms.  Participants will learn about the program application review process, Council Standards, and ways to improve application submissions.  In addition, participants will have the opportunity to review sample applications and discuss experiences about the program review process with other institutional representatives.
